London Bushfire Memorial - Tuesday 31 March 2009

A memorial service is being held in memory of the victims of the recent Australian bushfires at Westminster Abbey (London) on Tuesday 31 March at 6.30pm.

A collection will be taken during the service, the proceeds of which will be donated to the British Red Cross Australian Bushfires Appeal. An amazing line up of young Australian musical talent will perform.

Complimentary tickets are required for admission to the Abbey, and you will need to register in advance by completing this form.

Arrival between 5.30pm and 6.00pm is recommended in order to secure seating. For security reasons, you are required to provide photographic identification details, such as a passport or drivers' licence number, when registering for a ticket. You are required to bring this form of identification with you on the day.

"As an Australian, sharing time between Melbourne and London, I watched the bushfire disaster unfold first hand here in Victoria. There was a collective feeling of grief but also a compulsion to do something to help. This service, in London, will provide everyone with an opportunity to gather as a measure of solidarity with our countrymen and women, and to donate to those in need. I am in awe of the heroic efforts of our emergency services, and the fellowship of all Australians. We are beyond thankful for the generosity of our friends abroad".
