Seven Melbourne is proud to telecast THE 2010 ROYAL CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL GOOD FRIDAY APPEAL live from Etihad Stadium with all funds raised going towards medical equipment for the hospital and research.
Founded in 1931, THE ROYAL CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL GOOD FRIDAY APPEAL is an essential event for so many Victorians.
This iconic fundraising activity brings together people from all parts of the community in a very special way, with the common goal of raising money for Victoria’s sick kids.
Throughout the day and night a host of Seven personalities will be joining the telecast including; Good Friday Appeal ambassador JENNIFER KEYTE, PETER MITCHELL, REBECCA MADDERN, DAVID KOCH, MELISSA DOYLE, MARK BERETTA, FIFI BOX and KYLE SANDILANDS.
The telecast will get underway at 9.30am with SANDY ROBERTS in the hosting seat. During the morning Sandy will cross to a plethora of fundraising events throughout Victoria, including The Werribee Mansion egg hunt and the Henley Homes/Vic Urban house auction.
Home and Away stars AXLE WHITEHEAD, ADA NICODEMOU, ESTHER ANDERSON, TESSA JAMES along with Packed To The Rafters favourites ERIK THOMSON, MICHAEL CATON, GEORGE HOUVARDAS, ANGUS McLAREN, HUGH SHERIDAN and JESSICA McNAMEE will be popping in to the take calls in the phone room and joining in the fun on the telethon panel.
Veteran Good Friday Appeal supporter and Royal Children’s Hospital Ambassador DAN WEBB will be coming in for a chat and TONY PORTER will be reporting from inside the hospital, providing an insight on the positive impact of the appeal.
The telecast will stop briefly at 6.00pm for Seven News, Today Tonight and Home & Away.
At 7.30pm, GRANT DENYER will introduce the action packed night of entertainment.
The evening telecast will feature live performances from DAMIEN LEITH, VANESSA AMOROSI and JON STEVENS. Also joining the fun on the panel will be CORINNE GRANT, MOLLY MELDRUM and other Seven personalities.
BRUCE McAVANEY will lead a football panel with an interesting twist that includes; LEIGH MATTHEWS, MATTHEW RICHARDSON, TIM WATSON, TOM HARLEY, HAMISH McLACHLAN and Seven’s newest football funnymen PETER HELLIAR and PETER ROWSTHORN from The Bounce will keep everyone laughing.
Special messages of support from international stars will also be received during the night.
Over 600 volunteers manage the phone lines in the tally room and hundreds of other volunteers are involved in a variety of ways throughout the day.
The Good Friday Appeal has contributed more than $197 million to The Royal Children’s Hospital since its inception and this year aims to significantly add to that amount. In 2009, Victorians dug deep into their pockets after the Black Saturday Bushfires to generously donate a record amount of $13,862,734.
